INTERMASZ in details

On Saturday, May 24, the first edition of the INTERMASZ 2014 International Construction Machinery, Vehicles and Specialised Equipment Fair finished. In the four fair days, the exhibition of 120 companies from 8 countries was visited by almost 7 thousand guests. How did the new fair in the calendar of the construction industry events go?

INTERMASZ – exhibition of great opportunities.

As announced by the organizers, Poznań was to become the site of the greatest exhibition of machinery, vehicles and equipment for the infrastructure construction sector in Poland, and indeed the exhibitors turned up in large numbers – almost all of the mainstream market companies producing and distributing machinery and equipment for the maintenance of roads and green areas appeared in the capital of Wielkopolska.

"During the fair, almost all leaders of the construction machines sector presented their offer. The exhibition was complemented with machines useful in maintaining roads and green areas. It should be noted that this year it was the largest meeting of its kind in Poland. The visitors had an opportunity to see more than 60 new products on the market, including as many as 7 winners of the MTP Gold Medal. I am convinced that the first edition of the INTERMASZ Fair laid foundations of a truly significant event in Poland – says Project Director, Dariusz Muślewski. – In addition, we are happy with the fact that during the first INTERMASZ Fair a number of final transactions were made, and the exhibited products were placed in the hands of new owners directly at the Fair. As the exhibitors themselves confirmed, there were also numerous conversations that will translate into effects in a short time".

Indeed, on the second day of the Fair on many products one could find significant cards saying "Sold". Basing on the information that we have obtained, the following items, among other things, found their new owners: mobile crane LTM 1200 - 5.1 of the LIEBHERR brand (which in fact left the Fair as early as on Friday, since there was a specific task waiting for it), wheel excavator HYUNDAI R140W-9A/2 PC, presented during the Fair by the AMAGO company, or two mini excavators SWE 40UB manufactured by the SUNWARD company. We know that there were much more successful negotiations.

The representatives of companies who each day need to follow very specific rules introduced for example by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in the area of greenery infrastructure, had an opportunity to get acquainted with the extensive offer of companies manufacturing and distributing equipment, machines and technologies allowing for appropriate development of urban, road, protective or insulating greenery, as well as its proper maintenance and care.

In Poznań, in line with previous assumptions, the main group of visitors were managers of construction companies, owners of aggregate mines, strip mines, quarries, landfill managers or representatives of public utility companies, taking care of roads and greenery maintenance. An important target group for the exhibitors' offer were operators of construction machines. INTERMASZ hosted visitors from virtually every corner of Poland, as well as from abroad – the most numerous group arrived form Germany and Italy. INTERMASZ also hosted the representatives of Austria, the Netherlands, Lithuania or the United States.

What else was waiting there for the Fair guests during INTERMASZ? Operators of construction machines could test their skills and win the race against the clock during the "Machine Vanquishers" competition. Visitors just had to go through the preliminaries in order to struggle for valuable prizes. The finalists received the main prize, i.e. DELL 8" Venue tablets, as well as sets of GRENE wrenches and bits and a number of gifts from the exhibitors.

Saturday was an exceptional day at the Fair. The organizers saw to family nature of this specialist and targeted to professionals event. The Machine Operator Day, which was launched on Saturday, went perfectly – a number of families appeared among the machines, and children had an opportunity not only to look at, but also to sit at the controls of machines that they usually see from afar on construction sites only. The family nature of the Fair was also emphasized in the Hall in which special zones had been prepared. Ladies accompanying the exhibition guests could use e.g. specialist advice of stylists and make-up artists in the Woman Zone. Children, in turn, had an opportunity to enter into the realm of imagination and fantasy under the guidance of experienced animators who guaranteed great fun in the Child Zone. For those slightly older, machine and construction equipment operation simulators were prepared. Computer equipment was provided by the Xnote company, and the games that simulated a construction site, the work of excavators, cranes, and road construction excavator and equipment were delivered by Techland.

The Fair programme of events was complemented with technical meetings, dealing with the most fundamental and current industry issues. As part of the Construction Engineering Days, among other things, investment plans of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways or the National Water Management were presented. One could also have a conversation on such topics as the problems of rail transport in the transport policy, monitoring of rail infrastructure or the implementation of the latest technologies in the infrastructure construction. It was also possible to converse about effective reduction of occupational hazards during transportation on the construction site with the representatives of the National Labour Inspectorate, while the Polish Association of Garden Creators presented the most common mistakes in the establishment and maintenance of roadside greenery and innovative equipment and solutions used for its maintenance.

The INTERMASZ Fair has certainly opened a new chapter in the history of events for the infrastructure construction industry. Will it become over time an event alternative to the German giant? Let's hope it will, all the more so because behind the scenes quite a large area near Poznań owned by MTP, offering even better opportunities for the presentation of machines, is discussed. What's next for INTERMASZ? As was the case with the first edition, the final decision will be taken by the exhibitors, and we will hear it soon.
